This is the motor mounting plate for the P40 electric aileron trim tab.  The original is zinc die-cast and was broken in two as well as having several pieces broken off. They can be seen laying next to the original on the right.  The new part is machined from a solid piece of 6061T6 aluminum and fits the motor, gears, and sundry other parts perfectly.  I'm informed that once power was applied the assembly works.
Bottom side of motor mount plate.  Original assembly was made by the W.C. Gilbert Company who went on to manufacture the post war Erector Set and various model train sets.  This particular part was made for the Tri-State Warbird Museum in Batavia, Ohio.
